Okay, it’s time we take charge: A two pronged strategy to save our Democracy (+ a bonus strategy)
The protests, the judiciary, the Democrats in Congress who are pushing back have all had significant effects so far. This very moment however, we are in a state of siege—a constitutional crisis that may upend our entire democracy. Now it’s time for us to jump in with both feet. It did my heart good to see all the protesters out in the streets recently with their mostly hand-made signs with clear and direct messages—“Stop Musk”, “We didn’t elect Musk,” “Musk is not our president,” “Musk is stealing our money,” and so on.
First strategy: We need to go much further. Here is what I am proposing we do. Gather all of these protest proclamations into one document as the case against Musk, then start a resistance group in your community that meets regularly to discuss Musk’s latest effort to overthrow the government. After discussion and a consensus is reached, resulting notes should be sent to news outlets, members’ personal contacts, and posted on social media platforms. This needs to be done after each meeting and kept up until Musk is removed from his position. If you have access to a printing press, make posters and place them all over your town declaring your dissatisfaction. Send them out to others. We need to overwhelm the public with our message the way Trump and Musk are overwhelming all of us every day. Do everything you can to get other people in other towns to create their own groups and coordinate with them.
And Musk isn’t the only menace we have to deal with. Some groups could focus on the elected Republicans or Trump’s pick of scumbags for his cabinet who are enabling Trump and Musk. Call them out and give them the same treatment. Shame them, harass them and let them know we know who they are and what they are doing, and that they are not going to get away with it. Remember, our collective voices are more powerful and important than any politician’s. If we are going to win this war, we need to sound the alarm and be heard loud and clear.
Second strategy: Let’s start campaigning now to elect our next president and vice president. We need new leaders with the courage and charisma necessary to capture and maintain the attention of the public. For starters, here is my list of possible candidates: Pete Buttigieg, Sherrilyn Ifill, Sheldon Whitehouse, Maxwell Frost, Katie Porter, Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, Chris Murphy, Eric Swalwell. Just writing their names makes me feel good and gives me hope. Add to this list any other possible candidates you think fit the criteria. The next step would be to contact them or their offices and let them know what we are doing, and if they are ready to take on our proposal. If so, we will start supporting and campaigning for them. If nothing else, they will know that we recognize their potential. I don’t know about you, but when someone recognizes me and lets me know they appreciate what and who I am, it inspires me to do more.
The more people see others taking responsibility to save our country, the more likely they are to join forces. It becomes a cumulative process effecting others, until it has a life of its own. It’s time we take this show on the road and show these bastards we mean business.
Bonus strategy: Notice Trump’s progressive physical and mental decline every time you see him being interviewed or on camera. Point it out to everybody on your social platforms and other personal contacts. Every time. Every day. A perfect example of this was the recent press meeting Tuesday in the oval office. It was called to report on Musk’s cost-cutting efforts to reduce government spending. He really had nothing to report and what he did have to say showed his total ineptness at communicating. But more important was the scene of Trump, Musk, and the press. It told the whole story. It was Musk holding court with the press, dressed totally inappropriately for the oval office in black jeans, t-shirt, black MAGA hat, and black overcoat. There was Musk standing straight and tall, adding extra inches to his height with his 4 year old son atop his shoulders. And there was Trump slumped over his desk, scowling and looking altogether miserable. It was clear who was boss, and everybody knows it. Trump’s electric boat is sinking and the sharks are circling (Musk, Vance, Putin, et al.). Either way he’s a cooked goose.
If you like these strategies and think they have merit, share them with all your contacts.
