Psychopathic liar
One of the things that surprises me when I read the news or listen to podcasts about Trump’s decision making is how reporters and pundits try to explain his thinking process even though they know he constantly lies, is a moron and is as dumb as a post. Still, they think they can somehow make sense of it all. Some go so far as to call him a compulsive liar. But it goes much further than that. What they are missing is Trump’s serious mental deficit. Psychologically speaking, he is a psychopathic liar.
What does that mean?
The garden variety compulsive liar lies habitually—lying is far easier than the truth. They lie spontaneously for no reason, or because they want to say what they think people want to hear. They lie about both trivial and serious things, randomly and without any intention of benefitting from the lies.
A psychopathic liar like Trump who lies so easily and so fluently also lies habitually. (It’s an extreme form and an impulsive style of thinking and behavior.) The difference is he is forever operating, and is after some immediate practical gain or advantage. His attention is on those aspects of his present circumstances that are relevant to such possibilities. He is immersed in the opportunities or exigencies of his circumstances, and such issues as getting by, winning the other’s favor, or disarming or impressing are not peripheral or sporadic concerns. They are central and dominating.
His thinking is not a product of reflection or deliberation, but is an impression or passing thought expressed without critical examination. It is off the top of his head. He responds to a factual question as it strikes him or as whim or circumstances move him at the moment. He does not have the attitude of objectivity or the interest in logical cohesiveness. There is no obligation to tell the truth.
If we don’t pay attention to Trump’s mental disorders, like psychopathic lying and narcissism, and think we can somehow think through or work around his decision making, we are all fucked. These are serious matters and must be addressed. And as such Trump must be taken out office immediately.
